School History
OUR ROOTS
Arredondo Elementary opened in 1972. The school’s name honors longtime Tempe residents Alejandro and Josefa Arredondo. Mrs. Arredondo worked in Tempe Elementary cafeterias and all six of her sons have worked in education.
TRANSFORMATIONS FOR THE NEXT GENERATION
The original building was fully renovated during the 2016-2017 school year, transforming the campus into a state-of-the-art facility with modern classrooms, common spaces, and outdoor learning areas. These enhancements not only provide a safe and welcoming environment, but also promote collaboration and innovation among our students and staff.
CELEBRATING OUR LEGACY
Arredondo celebrated the school's 50th anniversary in February 2023, welcoming members of the Arredondo family and former staff members to campus for the school-wide festivities.
A NEW ERA OF EDUCATION
During the 2025–2026 school year, Arredondo began its transformation into a gifted learning campus with the expansion of ASPIRE Academy at Arredondo school-wide, serving grades 3–5. That evolution will continue in 2026–2027 with the launch of The Immersive 9 at the Arredondo Campus, expanding innovative learning opportunities for students in grades K-5. The school hopes to expand to grades K-8 in the near future.
